PASADENA – The municipal elections for the City of Pasadena commenced on March 10, 2015 with positive outcomes for candidates supported by the Armenian Council of America-PAC (ACA-PAC).
Taking 67.9% of the total votes, Pasadena Unified School District 2 candidate, Roy Boulghourjian won the seat against two other candidates. “We’re very proud of Roy – He proved to be the best candidate for this seat through his strong public outreach and effective message of quality public education for all students,” said ACA-PAC Chairman Vahe Atchabahian
“The Pasadena Unified School District has a rapidly growing population of Armenian-American students and it’s important to have a representative who understands our cultural values and educational needs. He ran a successful campaign and is setting the precedent for other Armenian-Americans to serve their community through civic participation,” continued Atchabahian.
In the City Council race, long-time Armenian friends and incumbents, Gene Masuda and Margaret McAustin reclaimed their seats, as Mayoral candidate Terry Tornek, who garnered the highest number of votes against 5 other candidates, will be in a runoff against his opponent on April 21.
“I encourage all Pasadena residents to go to the polls on April 21 and vote for Terry Tornek for Mayor. Terry has a long-standing record of serving the best interests of all the residents in Pasadena and he is particularly interested in listening to the needs and concerns of the growing Armenian-American constituency,” added Atchabahian.
