MOSCOW — “The worst thing that could happen to Armenia is for it to turn into a ‘new Ukraine,’” Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with Iran’s state television and radio broadcaster.
Medvedev claimed that the West is currently “testing” the strength of relations between Russia and Armenia.
“Armenia’s current leadership has decided to change the country’s course of development. I am convinced that this will not lead to anything good. The worst thing that could happen to Armenia is for it to turn into a new Ukraine,” Medvedev said.
He also emphasized that Moscow is capable of addressing its own regional issues, noting that both Russia and Iran are part of the Caspian region.
“We do not need anyone else in order to be friends, trade or develop,” the Russian Security Council deputy chairman concluded.
