YEREVAN — Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has said that Iranian officials are satisfied with Armenia’s transparency regarding the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project, as well as Yerevan’s willingness to address Tehran’s concerns and discuss the initiative’s potential economic benefits.

Mirzoyan made the remarks during a question-and-answer session with the government in the National Assembly, responding to a question from lawmaker Arusyak Manavazyan about his recent visit to Iran and the Iranian government’s position on TRIPP.

According to Mirzoyan, Iranian officials appreciate Armenia’s openness throughout the process and recognize the economic opportunities that the proposed transportation infrastructure could create for Iran.

“Iran is satisfied with the complete transparency we have demonstrated throughout the TRIPP process, our readiness to discuss all issues, and the economic opportunities that the operation of this infrastructure will provide to Iran,” Mirzoyan said.

The foreign minister clarified that his assessment was based on discussions held during his visit and the impressions he gained from Iranian officials.

He dismissed claims by some media outlets and opposition figures that the project has generated significant tensions between Armenia and Iran, saying such portrayals do not reflect the actual situation.

Mirzoyan acknowledged that Iranian officials had raised questions about the initiative but emphasized that Armenia had provided explanations and that consultations were continuing.

Addressing the broader agenda of his visit, the minister said discussions with Iranian leaders and counterparts covered the full range of bilateral relations, including political dialogue, the strategic nature of Armenian-Iranian ties, economic cooperation and infrastructure development.

The meetings also addressed regional and international developments.

Responding to questions about freight transportation and air connections, Mirzoyan reiterated Armenia’s commitment to strengthening relations with Iran while taking into account restrictions arising from international sanctions.

“We highly value and attach great importance to our relations with Iran, and we will not put them at risk,” he stated.

The minister also addressed congestion and delays affecting freight transportation in Iranian customs areas.

He said Armenian and Iranian authorities are actively discussing the issue and have identified potential technical solutions to improve the movement of goods across the border.

According to Mirzoyan, he expects some of these measures to be implemented in the coming days.

The foreign minister’s remarks emphasized Armenia’s intention to advance regional transportation initiatives while preserving its strategic relationship with Iran and maintaining close consultations with Tehran on issues of mutual concern.
