YEREVAN — The joint declaration signed following the first historic Armenia–European Union summit consists of 44 points.
In the first point, the parties emphasize that the summit marks a historic milestone in deepening bilateral relations.
The European Union reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to strengthening relations with Armenia and supporting Armenia’s sovereignty, resilience, and comprehensive reform agenda, based on democracy, human rights, fundamental freedoms, the rule of law, and the country’s long-term development, bringing Armenia and its people closer to the EU.
In the second point, the EU acknowledged the European aspirations of the Armenian people, referencing the law adopted last year to initiate the process of EU membership.
Armenia and the European Union reaffirmed the fundamental principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty. The EU highly praised efforts toward institutionalizing peace and signing and ratifying a peace agreement.
Brussels also welcomed the results of the Washington summit and steps aimed at normalizing Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. The EU fully supports the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations and the reopening of regional infrastructure based on the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, and reciprocity.
The parties noted that the €270 million assistance program continues to advance Armenia’s socio-economic reform agenda. They also stated that possible avenues for financial support beyond 2027 may be considered.
The parties described the TRIPP project as a key initiative contributing to sustainable, secure, and inclusive regional connectivity.
The EU welcomed Armenia’s efforts to strengthen and diversify its energy security and reaffirmed its commitment to working together to expand and facilitate exports from Armenia to the European Union.
