YEREVAN – Iran’s ambassador to Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami, has outlined Iran’s position regarding the TRIPP project.

Speaking at a press conference in Yerevan on March 2, the ambassador addressed a question about Tehran’s stance on TRIPP. He emphasized that during discussions with the Armenian side, Iranian officials have consistently stated that while the route may create communication and transportation opportunities for Armenia, it should not be used as a tool by foreign actors for actions against Iran.

“We have also reaffirmed our support for the Crossroads of Peace initiative if it can safeguard Armenia’s interests,” the ambassador said. “The Armenian authorities have assured us that this route will never acquire a military or security dimension, and Armenia’s sovereignty over the road will be preserved. There is trust between Iran and Armenia.”
