YEREVAN — The Russian Ambassador to Armenia was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, where he was handed a formal note of protest expressing deep indignation over statements aired on a program broadcast by a state-owned Russian television network. This was reported by Armenia’s MFA spokesperson to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (Azatutyun).

According to MFA spokesperson Ani Badalyan, it was emphasized that the statements constitute an unacceptable encroachment on the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia, represent a hostile manifestation, and grossly violate the fundamental principles of friendly relations between Armenia and Russia.

One of the Kremlin’s most prominent propagandists, Vladimir Solovyov, once again addressed Armenia during his author’s program Evening with Vladimir Solovyov, speaking about what he described as the need to launch a “special military operation” in Armenia, following the example of Ukraine.

The war against Ukraine is officially referred to by Moscow as a “special military operation.”

“If it was necessary for our national security to launch a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine, why, for the same reasons, can we not launch a special military operation in other points within our sphere of influence?” Solovyov stated.

Armenia has already suspended the broadcasting of Vladimir Solovyov’s author programs on its territory for nearly two years.
