PARIS — Greco-Roman wrestler, gold, silver, and bronze medalist of the Olympic Games, four-time world and seven-time European champion, Artur Aleksanyan, became a silver medalist at the Olympic Games for the second time in his career in the 97 kg weight class.
In the finals of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Aleksanyan wrestled against Iran’s Mohammadhadhi Saravi and lost 1-4.
Aleksanyan started the competition with a 9-0 advantage over the South Korean representative Shinjun Kim. In the quarter-finals, the Armenian wrestler beat Uzbekistan’s Rustam Asakalov 9-5. In the semi-finals, he achieved a brilliant victory with a score of 5-3 over the Cuban Gabriel Rusillo.
Aleksanyan reached the finals of the Olympic Games for the third time in a row and won his fourth Olympic medal.
This was Armenia’s third medal at the Paris Olympic Games.
