YEREVAN (Armenpress) — The International Mathematics Olympiad Competition for Students took place in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria with the participation of 320 students from 72 universities across the world.

Armenian students from the Yerevan State University, the American University of Armenia and the Armenian-Russian University captured 7 medals.

Albert Gevorgyan and Albert Sahakyan from YSU captured gold medals. Vazgen Mikayelyan captured silver. Avetik Karagulyan – bronze.

From the AUA – Artyom Kosyan captured silver medal and Levon Stepanyan – bronze.

From the Armenian-Russian University – Hrachya Kocharyan won the bronze medal.

The Armenian teams were managed by YSU lecturer Karen Keryan.

The first IMC was held in 1959 in Romania. Since then, it is held annually.
