YEREVAN — Armenia’s exports to European Union countries exceeded $516 million in January-June 2026, representing an increase of more than 80 percent compared with approximately $287 million during the same period last year.

Exports to the EU during the first half of 2026 were also more than 71 percent higher than in the same period of 2017, when they totaled approximately $301 million.

Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Anushik Avetyan met on August 18 with Philipp Hoffmann, a member of the German Bundestag representing the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). Katrin Buder-Pelz, First Secretary of the German Embassy in Armenia, also participated in the meeting.

The sides exchanged views on further developing trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and Germany, as well as expanding opportunities for Armenian products to enter the German market.

Particular attention was given to Germany’s Import Promotion Desk (IPD) initiative. The participants emphasized the importance of the program in assessing whether Armenian producers with export potential meet the requirements of German and European markets, improving their export readiness, and establishing direct business contacts with German importers and buyers.

The sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue cooperation and agreed to exchange additional information to identify practical areas for future collaboration.
