YEREVAN — Armenia scored three goals in the first half and added one more after the break to secure a 4-0 win over Andorra in their 2012 European Championship qualifier on Tuesday.
Gevorg Ghazaryan opened the scoring with a powerful drive from outside the box just four minutes into the game. It was Armenia’s 100th goal since the country gained independence after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
The home side dominated the game and finished with 19 shots, compared to the visitors’ five.
Goalkeeper Jose Antonio Gomes blocked Yura Movsisyan’s low shot from the right but Henrik Mkhitaryan was quick to score from the rebound and make it 2-0 in the 16th.
Movsisyan then volleyed in Sargis Hovsepyan’s cross from the right in the 33rd.
Marcos Pizzelli hit the target from long range to make it 4-0 in the 52nd.
Armenia have now won two of their opening four games, matching the total victories in their entire Euro 2008 qualifying campaign when they came second last in their group.
The win put Armenia in second place of Group B with seven points from four games same as Slovakia and the Republic of Ireland who played 1-1 tie. Russia is at the top of the group with nine points after beating Macedonia 1-0.

Armenia next hosts Russia on March 26, 2011.
