YEREVAN — Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received a delegation headed by Oleg Belozyorov, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of Russian Railways.

Pashinyan emphasized that, in light of emerging opportunities to reopen regional transportation routes, the Armenian government’s objective is to make the country’s railway system more competitive and integrate it into the railway networks of neighboring countries and the broader international transportation system.

The two sides discussed opportunities arising from regional developments and steps needed to improve the competitiveness of Armenia’s railways and strengthen their integration into international transportation corridors.

Particular attention was given to proposed railway reconstruction projects along the Gyumri–Akhurik–Turkish border and Yeraskh–Nakhichevan sections, as well as the economic and transportation opportunities these projects could create.

The discussions also addressed infrastructure development undertaken during the concession management of Armenia’s railway network by South Caucasus Railway, including management efficiency, existing challenges, and potential solutions.

The parties agreed to establish a joint working group to examine the identified issues within a short timeframe, explore possible solutions, and determine the next steps.
