YEREVAN — Prosecutors on June 1 filed public criminal charges against four former commanders of Armenia’s Armed Forces army corps in connection with the March 1–2, 2008 events.

The individuals, identified by their initials P.P., V.G., H.B., and L.E., are under investigation in a case being handled by Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee.

According to investigators, the former commanders are suspected of executing manifestly unlawful orders and assisting former Defense Minister Mikael Harutyunyan and other senior officials—including former President Robert Kocharyan, former Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, and former CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov—in exceeding their official authority, actions that allegedly resulted in serious consequences.
