WASHINGTON, DC — The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump remains committed to turning the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) initiative into reality, according to an exclusive response provided by a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State to Armenpress.

“TRIPP continues to remain one of the United States’ priorities because it has the potential to promote peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus and beyond. The Trump administration remains committed to fulfilling its pledge to make TRIPP a reality,” the State Department spokesperson said.

The spokesperson recalled that the project envisions the creation of a multimodal transportation hub linking mainland Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan, while fully respecting Armenia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction, and at the same time ensuring reciprocal benefits for Armenia.

“TRIPP will provide seamless international and domestic connectivity across the region, expanding opportunities for economic growth and greater prosperity,” the spokesperson noted.

According to the spokesperson, Azerbaijan will gain direct connectivity with Nakhchivan, while Armenia will benefit from improved regional links that could unlock the South Caucasus’ economic potential, all while preserving Armenia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction.

The U.S. State Department spokesperson also noted that Armenia is working in cooperation with the United States and mutually agreed third parties toward the implementation of the TRIPP initiative.

“To support the launch of TRIPP and its related arrangements, the United States has undertaken an initial commitment of $145 million, which will help unlock regional stability and economic growth.

These funds will support investments in trade, infrastructure, and border security in Armenia, while also increasing regional connectivity,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson further noted that on January 13, 2026, the United States and Armenia jointly announced the publication of the implementation framework for TRIPP.

“This document lays out a clear pathway for the operationalization of TRIPP. Reflecting the principles affirmed on August 8, 2025, it also underscores the importance of sovereignty, jurisdiction, territorial integrity, and reciprocity for the initiative’s overall success.

As President Donald Trump has stated, TRIPP will pass through ‘some of the most economically important places in the world’ and will ‘stimulate commercial activity across the Caspian Sea, helping the countries of Central Asia.’

The ultimate objectives of TRIPP are to strengthen the prosperity and security of Armenia and Azerbaijan, expand U.S. trade opportunities by deepening regional commerce and connectivity, and create new transit links from Central Asia and the Caspian region to Europe,” the spokesperson concluded.
