YEREVAN — In 2025, 25,670 individuals were granted Armenian citizenship by presidential decree, including 19,367 displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh, according to official data.

Authorities noted an increase compared to 2024, driven by applications from foreign nationals, ethnic Armenians, and displaced individuals.

Officials emphasized that the trend reflects Armenia’s growing attractiveness as a destination for both diaspora Armenians and foreign nationals.

Addressing speculation that displaced persons were not being granted citizenship, the government clarified that 36,676 individuals from Nagorno-Karabakh have acquired Armenian citizenship, with some obtaining it through passport issuance procedures and others by presidential decree.
