STRASBOURG – The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has rejected Azerbaijan’s latest appeal and ordered the country to provide copies or summaries of court verdicts issued against Armenian prisoners of war.
According to the International and Comparative Law Center, the court requires that the submitted materials include judicial reasoning based on the evidence presented in each case.
On April 9, the ECHR also reaffirmed its earlier interim measure obliging Azerbaijan to continue providing information on detainees’ conditions, including medical records, examinations, and treatment details.
Azerbaijan has repeatedly appealed to have this interim measure lifted, asserting that all processes are transparent. However, the court has maintained the requirement for regular reporting.
The next reporting deadline has been set for August 31, 2026.
