YEREVAN — On March 28, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan held a phone conversation with the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, according to Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the call, the two ministers exchanged views on the latest developments in the Middle East and discussed possible avenues for reaching a resolution to the situation. They also touched upon humanitarian issues, as well as matters on the multilateral agenda.

Earlier, on March 23, Foreign Minister Mirzoyan had announced that the Republic of Armenia had sent humanitarian aid to Iran, primarily in the form of medical supplies.

The ongoing conflict, which began with U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran on February 28, has since expanded to include Arab countries of the Persian Gulf and Lebanon. According to multiple reports, the escalation has resulted in the deaths of several senior figures within Iran’s military and political leadership, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
