WASHINGTON, D.C. — Armenian Council of America (ACA) Representative Taniel Koushakjian met with Armenia’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Narek Mkrtchyan, for a substantive discussion on current developments in Armenia and the state of U.S.–Armenia bilateral relations.

During the meeting, Ambassador Mkrtchyan provided an overview of recent political, security, and regional developments affecting Armenia, including ongoing challenges facing the country and its democratic institutions. The discussion also addressed Armenia’s evolving foreign policy environment and the broader geopolitical dynamics shaping the South Caucasus.

Koushakjian, in turn, briefed the Ambassador on the Armenian Council of America’s ongoing legislative and advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C. He outlined ACA’s work with Members of Congress and congressional offices on issues of critical importance to Armenian national and diaspora interests, including U.S. foreign assistance, accountability for human rights violations by Azerbaijan, and regional security.

The meeting further included an exchange of views on the current state and future trajectory of U.S.–Armenia relations, emphasizing the importance of sustained congressional engagement, principled U.S. policy, and continued cooperation between the Armenian government and the Armenian American community.

Koushakjian reaffirmed ACA’s commitment to advocating for policies that strengthen Armenia’s sovereignty, security, and democratic resilience, while ensuring that Armenian American perspectives remain well represented in Washington. Both sides underscored the value of ongoing dialogue in advancing shared priorities and addressing the challenges facing Armenia and the region.
