YEREVAN — Kristine Grigoryan, Head of Armenia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, has stated that the threats to the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia originate from several countries.

Grigoryan made this statement during a briefing with journalists in the National Assembly, in response to a question about whether, apart from Turkey and Azerbaijan, there are other countries posing a threat to Armenia’s statehood, independence, and territorial integrity.

“The threats to the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia come from several countries,” Grigoryan said, while refraining from specifying which countries she was referring to.

At present, Grigoryan does not assess the likelihood of an Azerbaijani attack on Armenia as high. When asked if there is an imminent threat of attack from Azerbaijan, she responded:
“There is currently no complete set of facts and signals necessary to assess the likelihood of an attack as high. However, the situation is changing rapidly, and we are closely monitoring developments.”

Although Armenia and Azerbaijan have recently declared that they are close to finalizing a peace agreement, Azerbaijan has been consistently spreading false reports in recent days, claiming that Armenian armed forces are allegedly firing at Azerbaijani positions in various border sections.

According to various analysts and experts, these false claims are an attempt by Azerbaijan to lay the groundwork for a new military aggression against Armenia.
