YEREVAN — Armenia’s Minister of Defense, Suren Papikyan, addressed the Azerbaijani side’s disinformation regarding ceasefire violations during a briefing with journalists in the National Assembly.

The minister stated that he could not speculate on why such claims are being made, but emphasized once again that Armenia is open to examining and investigating any incidents if presented with evidence.

“Satellite images cannot show whether shots were fired or not — for that, we need video footage. And since we are not the ones making the accusations, but rather our neighbors, we say: if you have evidence, provide it to us. We are ready to examine and investigate it. So far, we have not received any such responses,” Papikyan said.

According to the minister, there has been no troop movement from the Azerbaijani side.
“To make such an assessment, intelligence data is required. At the moment, nothing of that sort is visible on the ground. The Ministry of Defense does not confirm the media reports about shootings or troop movements,” he stated.

Papikyan stressed that both current and former officials should only disseminate accurate information regarding gunfire or border activity. Information is considered accurate only if it has been verified by the Ministry of Defense.
