YEREVAN — Armenia is fully prepared to normalize relations with Turkey, and its stance on the issue has remained unchanged since the beginning of the process, according to Ruben Rubinyan, Vice President of the Armenian National Assembly and Armenia’s Special Envoy for normalization talks with Turkey. He made these remarks in an interview with Turkish NTV.

“We seek full normalization of relations with Turkey, including the restoration of diplomatic ties and the reopening of Armenia’s land border,” Rubinyan stated, as reported by Ermenihaber.

The Armenian envoy reiterated that Armenia is ready for normalization without any preconditions.

Rubinyan emphasized that Armenia is prepared to open the border with Turkey and has been ready for complete normalization “yesterday, today, and tomorrow.” He added that if Turkey demonstrates the same political will, the process could be implemented very quickly.

According to Rubinyan, Armenia is awaiting a reciprocal step from Turkey. He noted that the Margara checkpoint on the Armenian side has been renovated and made operational, and similar action is expected from Turkey. Additionally, both sides have agreed to repair or reconstruct the bridge at the border.

“The most significant agreement so far has been the decision to open the border for third-country citizens and diplomatic passport holders, which was implemented in 2022,” Rubinyan concluded.
