PASADENA — Join us for the book launch of “The Origins of the Hnchakian Party in Geneva and the Legacy of the Twenty Gallows” by Dr. Abel H. Manoukian on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 7:30 PM, at the AEBU center 1060 N Allen Ave Pasadena, CA 91104. The event organized by Massis Weekly, will feature presentations of both the Armenian and English editions, introduced by attorney Roupen Avsharian.
The books explore the founding of the Hnchakian Party, the first revolutionary socialist party in the Ottoman Empire and Persia, established by six Armenian students in Geneva in 1887. These young Marxist revolutionaries, though not Ottoman citizens, were deeply committed to the plight of their fellow Armenians in Western Armenia.
This volume also delves into the Hnchakian Twenty Gallows, examining this tragic event as the first victims of the Armenian Genocide, based on reports from the Swiss press and German diplomatic correspondence. It portrays the gallows as a chilling precursor to the full-scale genocide that followed.
Don’t miss this insightful event highlighting a critical chapter of Armenian and world history!
