Many Armenians Rushing to Save Shushi from Azerbaijan

SHUSHI — President of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Arayik Haroutyunyan delivered the following message:

“Today, as in 1992 when our victory campaign began with the liberation of Shushi, our victory campaign is conditioned by the defense of Shushi. The enemy is only a few kilometers away from here, maximum 5 kilometers. The ultimate goal of the enemy is to seize and take over Shushi.

As they say, “whoever controls Shushi, controls Artsakh”. I would like for us to realize this moment and not only with words, but also directly participate in the defense of Shushi. The first time I visited Shushi was on May 8, 1992, and I was one of the first to enter the Ghazanchetsots Cathedral and kiss the cross. Today I also kissed the cross, lit a candle and prayed for our victory.

In reality, I believe that we Armenians will win. In reality, I believe that these days are going to be turning events.

For that, we need to unite as one. For that, we need to fight. For that, we need to punish the enemy, but for that, it is necessary to reach Artsakh as soon as possible. Of course, this is not panicking. I believe in our victory more than ever. In a matter of days, we need to turn things around on the front and punish the adversary at the gates of Shushi. Let’s unite and fight together.

Of course, we understand and realize everything, but let’s accomplish our greatest mission for the sake of the homeland, our future and our generations. Be rest assured that victory will be ours. I believe in victory.”

Following Harutyunyan’s call, spokesperson of the President  Vahram Poghosyan posted the following on his Facebook page:

“The call that the President of Artsakh made from the city of Shushi today has sparked great reactions. We are constantly receiving phone calls from many of our compatriots from different provinces of Armenia and the capital Yerevan.

The danger facing the Armenian fortress city has not only truly sparked their concern, but has also made many of them rush to form small and large detachments and travel to Artsakh to save Shushi from the enemy. Only the personal contribution of each and every one of us will help us save Shushi and reach the desired TURNING POINT in the hostilities.

We are waiting…”
