PARAMUS, NJ — The Jubilee Celebration of the 170th Anniversary of the Armenian Evangelical Church coupled with celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Independence of Armenia, was held on Sunday, September 25 at the Aram Khachaturian Grand Music Hall in Yerevan, Armenia. Among the audience were dozens of Armenian Evangelical pastors from all around the world and local guests. The Music Hall was filled to its capacity. Earlier over 70 Armenian Evangelical pastors participated in a three day retreat at the beautiful nature’s set of Sheen Shoghig Camp in Hankavan, Armenia.

evengelical-1The Program started with the Welcoming Words of Rev. Gevork Gasparyan, President of the Union of Evangelical Churches of Armenia. Congratulatory messages were delivered by Rev. Dr. Vahan Tootikian, Executive Secretary of the Armenian Evangelical World Council (AEWC), Dr. Nazareth Darakjian, President of the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA), Zaven Khanjian, Executive Director/CEO of AMAA and Rev. Megrditch Karagoezian, President of the AEWC.

The “Hover” State Chamber Choir, accompanied by the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia, presented a Jubilee Anniversary song and a medley of spiritual, sacred and national songs from world famous Armenian and non-Armenian composers. During the Program an excerpt from the film “The Armenian Evangelicals in the Education Field” was presented.

At the conclusion of the celebration, the “Hover” Choir was joined by the audience in singing Rev. Armenag Missirian’s the Lord’s Prayer Hayr Mehr. A Benediction was offered by Rev. Karagoezian.
