LOS ANGELES (Armenianow) — Armenia’s national soccer team achieved their second straight victory under new coach Varuzhan Sukiasyan by beating El Salvador in a friendly played in Los Angeles, USA, on June 1.
The Armenians outplayed their Central American rivals and created numerous chances to score in a game that ended 4-0 to the Havakakan.
Borussia Dortmund’s attacking midfielder Mkhitaryan again dominated the field, participating in virtually all attacks of Armenia. He, in particular, created the first goal (an own goal by El Salvador) early on in the game and assisted Gegham Kadimyan in scoring the last in the 77th minute. In-between these events, Hovhannes Hambartsumyan and Tigran Barseghyan scored for Armenia in the 8th and 68th minutes, respectively.
On May 28, also playing in Los Angeles, Armenia overwhelmed another Central American team, Guatemala, 7-1, the highest score achieved by the Havakakan in its history. Mkhitaryan scored a hat-trick – the first for Armenia in official matches – in that game.
