PASADENA — Vahe Yacoubian, a senior at AGBU Vatche and Tamar Manoukian High School, was awarded with the 2016 Intel Science Talent Search Initiative Award as part of their national science talent search competition. The Intel STS is the nation’s most prestigious pre-college science competition.

The 2016 entrant class includes high school seniors from 43 states and 512 high schools. Vahe is one of 133 students out of nearly 1800 who received this recognition. This award is given to an entrant who has exhibited extraordinary effort and dedication in his pursuit of scientific research and has made great accomplishments relative to the resources available to him.

Vahe’s original research on “An Innovative Method of Reducing Cholesterol in Foods by Converting it into Vitamin D” earned him this distinction.

Vahe is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Stephan Yacoubian and the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Vahe Yacoubian and Dr. and Mrs. Vartkes Najarian.
