YEREVAN — Haigazian University marked a significant week of academic engagement in Yerevan, bringing together scholarship, research, and institutional collaboration around key themes in Armenian Studies. Through the launch of a new volume of the Haigazian Armenological Review, a scholarly lecture at the Armenian Genocide Museum & Institute, and an international conference and workshop jointly organized with the Armenian State Pedagogical University, the University’s presence in Yerevan underscored its longstanding commitment to the advancement of Armenological scholarship and intellectual exchange between Armenia and the Diaspora. Representing Haigazian University from Beirut were Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian, President of Haigazian University, and Dr. Antranig Dakessian, Director of the Armenian Diaspora Research Center.
Launching of Volume 45 of the Haigazian Armenological Review
The week’s academic program commenced on Friday, September 11, 2026, with the launching of Volume 45 (Nos. 1 & 2) of the Haigazian Armenological Review (HAR) at the Fundamental Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.
The gathering brought together scholars, colleagues, friends, and members of the Armenian Studies community to mark the publication of the new volume and to reflect on the Haigazian Armenological Review’s continuing contribution to the development of Armenological research and scholarship.
The publication of Volume 45 represents another milestone in the Review’s ongoing scholarly contribution, providing a platform for research and critical inquiry within the broad and evolving field of Armenian Studies.
From Memory to Renewal: Reflections on the Armenian Evangelical Educational Mission
The academic program continued on September 12 at the Armenian Genocide Museum & Institute in Yerevan, where Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian delivered a lecture and participated in a scholarly discussion as part of the lecture series “Survival and Rebirth: Descendants of Genocide Survivors as ‘Guardians of Memory.’”
In his presentation, Rev. Dr. Haidostian offered a historical and analytical examination of the post-Genocide revival and development of the Armenian Evangelical educational mission. Particular attention was given to the role of Armenian Evangelical educational institutions in communal reconstruction, identity formation, and the preservation and transmission of Armenian heritage in the aftermath of the Genocide.
The lecture also addressed contemporary questions concerning Armenian communities and their institutional and educational life. A substantive question-and-answer session followed, providing an opportunity for scholarly exchange with the participants. The meeting concluded with the presentation of a commemorative gift to President Haidostian in recognition of his participation and contribution to the lecture series.
International Conference on “The Changing Armenian World”
The week culminated on September 14, 2026, with the International Conference and Workshop “The Changing Armenian World: Processes and Realities,” jointly organized by Haigazian University and the Armenian State Pedagogical University in Yerevan.
The conference brought together prominent scholars and representatives of academic and educational institutions from Armenia and the Diaspora for scholarly discussion on Armenian identity and culture, statehood, the Diaspora, and the contemporary transformations of the Armenian world.
The event provided a forum for examining the complex and evolving relationships between homeland, Diaspora, identity, culture, and institutional life, while fostering dialogue and intellectual exchange among scholars working across Armenia and the Diaspora.
The conference also marked the third scholarly initiative jointly undertaken by Haigazian University and the Armenian State Pedagogical University, reflecting the continued development of academic cooperation between the two institutions and their shared commitment to research and scholarship in Armenian Studies.
A Continuing Academic Commitment
Haigazian University’s academic presence in Yerevan reaffirmed the University’s role as a bridge between Armenian scholarly communities in Armenia and the Diaspora, while creating further opportunities for collaboration, research, and intellectual exchange.
