YEREVAN — The Anti-Corruption Court granted a claim filed by the Prosecutor’s Office on July 23, 2026, ordering the confiscation of 1,150,584,000 drams ($3,165 Million Dollars) from V.A., the director of two companies, in favor of the Republic of Armenia as compensation for damages caused to the state.

The Department for the Protection of State Interests of the Prosecutor General’s Office had filed a lawsuit against V.A., seeking the recovery of 1,150,584,000 drams in damages.

The claim was based on a March 17, 2026 judgment by the Criminal Court of First Instance of Yerevan, which found V.A. guilty of offenses stipulated under Article 290, Part 3, Points 1 and 2 of Armenia’s Criminal Code.

According to the case, V.A., acting as a shareholder and executive director of two companies, entered into a prior agreement with the person who exercised effective control over the companies.

Despite being legally obligated to calculate and fulfill the companies’ tax liabilities within the procedures and deadlines established by the Tax Code, V.A. allegedly included false information in the companies’ monthly income-tax and social-payment filings, unified value-added tax and excise-tax calculations, and annual corporate-profit-tax returns.

The scheme was intended to evade the payment of taxes totaling 1,150,584,000 drams—an amount considered particularly large under Armenian law.

As a result, the companies avoided paying 584,864,000 drams in income tax, 553,825,000 drams in value-added tax, and 11,894,000 drams in corporate profit tax to the state budget.
