BRUSSELS — The European Union will support Armenia in its aspiration to join the EU, according to EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, who commented on Armenia’s recent statements regarding potential membership in both the EU and the Eurasian Economic Union.
“Only the Armenian people can decide their future. The recent meeting of the European Political Community, as well as the EU-Armenia summit, showed the direction they want to pursue. Europe will support them,” Kos stated in Brussels.
The 8th summit of the European Political Community was held in Yerevan on May 4, while the EU-Armenia summit took place in the Armenian capital on May 5.
Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed discussing Armenia’s plans regarding the EU during the latest Eurasian Economic Union summit.
