Local officials have evacuated tenants of building number 15 on Paramaz street, Meghri, located in the southern Syunik region of Armenia. The evacuation come as officials fear damage caused to the reinforced concrete building might cause the nine-story building, which was constructed in 1987, to collapse. The building has 36 apartments with 130 residents.

RA Ministry of Emergency Situations, at a press conference informed the media that the building’s iron-concrete columns show extensive deterioration causing the Mayor of Meghri, S. Hayrapetyan, along with local emergency personnel to order an immediate evacuation of the building’s 125 residents, with 5 residents refusing to evacuate. At present, the building is under continuous surveillance by local fire, rescue and police officials, and prohibited entry by the general public.
