YEREVAN — The Amulsar mining project is expected to employ approximately 1,200 to 1,300 people directly while generating at least 4,000 additional jobs in related industries, according to Gnel Sanosyan, the Armenian government’s representative at Lydian Armenia.
Speaking in an interview with Armenia’s Public Television, Sanosyan discussed the project’s anticipated impact on employment and economic activity.
“Approximately 1,200 to 1,300 people will work at the mine. However, in the mining industry, it is generally estimated that each direct job supports another four to five jobs in other companies and sectors. This means we are talking about at least 4,000 additional jobs,” Sanosyan explained.
He noted that the project’s economic impact would extend beyond the mine itself, creating opportunities for businesses and service providers across various industries.
“The impact will be widespread. Thousands of people will be involved in different companies, performing various types of work and providing a range of services. Some will be directly involved in the project, while others will provide supporting or indirect services,” he said.
