HRAZDAN — Firebird AI officially launched its ambitious megaproject in Armenia on August 8, opening what it describes as the region’s largest artificial intelligence factory.
The launch of the megacenter near Hrazdan marks the beginning of Firebird AI’s global AI infrastructure platform and positions Armenia as a strategic hub for artificial intelligence computing capacity.
The opening ceremony was attended by senior government officials, ambassadors accredited to Armenia, representatives of major global technology companies and the scientific community, investors, and strategic partners.
Speakers at the official ceremony included Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan; Minister of High-Tech Industry Davit Tadevosyan; NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang; NVIDIA Vice President of Physical AI Simulation Technology Rev Lebaredian; U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Armenia David Allen; Kazakhstan Deputy Prime Minister Zhaslan Madiyev; and Firebird AI co-founders Alexander Yesayan and Razmig Hovaghimian.
“Exactly one year after signing the U.S.-Armenia Memorandum of Understanding on artificial intelligence and technological cooperation with President Donald Trump, we now have this significant result,” Prime Minister Pashinyan said.
Firebird also announced that NVIDIA intends to invest in the company, following an earlier investment by CoreWeave this year. The capital investments will help Firebird expand its global infrastructure and operational presence, while developing some of the largest and most advanced computing clusters in emerging markets.
“AI factories are the infrastructure nations need to create intelligence, drive economic growth, and remain competitive in the AI era,” NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang said.
“Together with Firebird, we are building infrastructure in Armenia and Kazakhstan that will provide researchers, startups, and industries with the computing foundation needed to develop AI locally, attract innovators from around the world, and participate in the global AI economy,” Huang added.
Investment in the megaproject’s first phase, which is already operational, exceeds $500 million.
By the end of 2027, the facility’s capacity is expected to expand to more than 70,000 NVIDIA Blackwell and Vera Rubin GPUs. Under the project, the AI infrastructure will reach 300 megawatts of capacity, placing it among Europe’s largest AI infrastructure platforms and one of the world’s most significant AI computing centers.
Built on the NVIDIA DSX platform and connected through NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet networking, the Firebird facility was designed to improve the economic efficiency of AI infrastructure. According to the company, the system allows up to 40 percent more GPUs to be installed within the same physical space while maximizing the efficiency of each megawatt of power.
Firebird’s expansion strategy extends beyond Armenia. Kazakhstan has become the company’s second market, where Firebird has secured 125 megawatts of AI infrastructure capacity at the Data Center Valley project. The company has received the necessary approvals from the Kazakh government as well as an export authorization from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security.
With additional projects underway in several emerging markets, Firebird aims to increase its total AI infrastructure capacity to 2 gigawatts by the end of 2028, creating what it says will be one of the fastest-growing AI infrastructure networks in the world.

“Firebird combines its expertise, strategic partnerships with NVIDIA and leading infrastructure providers, experience with the U.S. regulatory environment, and an expanding portfolio of international projects. Over the next two years, we expect the total capacity of our global AI infrastructure platform to reach approximately 2 gigawatts, enabling emerging markets to participate directly in the global AI economy,” he added.
Firebird AI co-founder Alexander Yesayan noted that only six months ago the site was still a construction zone, while today it is home to the region’s largest AI factory and the foundation of one of Europe’s most ambitious AI infrastructure projects.

Firebird also announced that Perplexity is among its first customers. The company will use Firebird’s high-performance AI infrastructure to support its answer-engine platform and AI-powered digital assistant services.
The partnership represents an important step toward attracting leading AI-focused companies to Armenia and further strengthening the country’s technology and startup ecosystem.
Construction of the AI factory was carried out in accordance with high international environmental and energy-efficiency standards. The facility could also contribute to greater stability in Armenia’s energy system. Its cooling system operates on a closed-loop principle, meaning water is not consumed during regular operations or discharged into the surrounding environment.
During the first phase, approximately 100 specialists will work at Firebird AI’s facility. Once the project is fully implemented, more than 300 highly skilled jobs are expected to be created in Armenia.
The facility’s computing capacity is designed to serve both domestic and international users. At the same time, part of its capacity will be reserved to support the development of Armenia’s technology ecosystem. It will be made available to local startups, universities, research centers, and scientific and educational initiatives, including programs funded by the Armenian government.
The project’s economic impact is already reflected in official statistics. Firebird AI appeared for the first time on Armenia’s list of largest taxpayers during the first half of 2026, paying 823 million drams, approximately $2.2 million, into the state budget.
