YEREVAN — Armenia recorded 59,300 more arrivals than departures during the first half of 2026, according to Nelli Davtyan, Acting Head of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“In the first half of 2026, 59,300 more people entered Armenia than left the country, whereas in previous years that figure was between 10,000 and 15,000,” Davtyan said during a press conference summarizing the first six months of the year.
She noted that last year Armenia recorded a positive border-crossing balance of 8,660, meaning that the number of arrivals exceeded departures by that amount.
Davtyan said the balance among Armenian citizens was also positive during the first half of 2026.
“This is an exceptional indicator because the figure usually improves during the second half of the year, largely because of seasonal employment patterns,” she said.
According to Davtyan, Armenia recorded a positive balance of 1,347 among Armenian citizens during the first six months of the year.
A total of 871,409 Armenian citizens entered the country, while 870,062 departures were recorded.
“The difference is positive,” Davtyan emphasized.
