YEREVAN — April 29 marks International Dance Day. Under the patronage of Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, the National Center of Folk Music and Dance organized a festive event titled “Come, Dance!”

According to the ministry, the day’s celebrations began at Republic Square with a program titled “Festive Circle Dance in Seven Rounds.”

The large-scale public cultural event brought together more then 4,000 dancers from state dance studios operating under the National Center of Folk Music and Dance, the Vanush Khanamiryan Union of Dance Artists of Armenia, groups affiliated with the National Dance Union of Armenia, renowned dance ensembles, higher and secondary specialized educational institutions, as well as dance groups from Armenia’s regions.

Dance flash mobs were also scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Northern Avenue, Charles Aznavour Square, the courtyard of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, and the area surrounding the Alexander Spendiaryan House-Museum.

The day’s events concluded at 7:00 p.m. in Freedom Square.

The initiative aims to promote Armenian dance, highlight its vitality and significance, and encourage broad public participation in preserving and valuing the nation’s cultural heritage.
