ZRENJANIN, Serbia — Armenia’s Greco-Roman wrestlers delivered an impressive performance at the U23 European Wrestling Championships in Zrenjanin, capturing two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze.
Competing in the 130 kg weight class, Aramayis Harutyunyan defeated his opponent from Hungary in the final to claim the championship title. On his path to the final, Harutyunyan eliminated wrestlers from Latvia (5–0), Russia (4–1), and Ukraine (6–0).
In the 60 kg division, Suren Aghajanyan also captured gold after an outstanding run through the tournament, standing out with dominant and technically sharp bouts. In the decisive match for the gold medal, Aghajanyan faced Georgia’s Giorgi Kochalidze. The Armenian wrestler needed only two minutes to secure a complete advantage, ending the bout early with a commanding 9–0 victory.
Aghajanyan was unstoppable on his way to the top of the podium. Before reaching the final, he recorded a series of impressive victories, defeating wrestlers from Poland, Denmark, and France—each time finishing the match ahead of schedule.
In the 77 kg weight category, Samvel Terteryan competed in the final against Danil Grigoryev of Russia. Terteryan fell short in the championship bout and finished the tournament with the silver medal. Earlier, he defeated opponents from Hungary (1–1), Ukraine (9–3), and Moldova (1–1) to reach the final.
Meanwhile, in the 55 kg category, Manvel Khachatryan secured the bronze medal. Facing a wrestler from Turkey in the bronze medal match, Khachatryan earned a decisive 9–0 victory, winning the bout ahead of time to claim third place.
