TBILISSI — Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that cooperation between Armenia and Georgia is at a high level, though significant untapped potential for further development still remains.
Speaking during a joint statement with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Kobakhidze highlighted what he described as the “very successful” trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
“Armenia is among Georgia’s top ten foreign trade partners. In terms of travel and tourism, Armenia is among the top three countries for Georgia, and it is very valuable to maintain such cooperation and further deepen it in the tourism sector,” Kobakhidze said.
He added that interest among Armenian visitors traveling to Georgia continues to grow.
“We are very pleased to see increasing interest from visitors coming to Georgia from Armenia. We must further deepen this cooperation,” Kobakhidze noted.
The Georgian prime minister also emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties in light of the current regional situation.
“The situation around us is complicated. Especially under these circumstances, it is important to deepen our cooperation,” Kobakhidze said, adding that the two countries and their peoples are connected by longstanding historical and friendly ties that form the foundation of the strategic partnership between Armenia and Georgia.
“Of course, we are very pleased and encouraged that we have cooperation at such a high level. We are consistently interested in further deepening our strategic partnership and strengthening the strategic and friendly ties between our countries. Mutual respect and shared interests form the basis of this friendship,” he said.
Kobakhidze also thanked Armenia for supporting Georgia’s national interests, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.
“Within the framework of the commission meeting, I also thanked my colleague for supporting the resolution in favor of Georgia at the United Nations General Assembly,” Kobakhidze added.
