YEREVAN — The 2025 defense cooperation program between Armenia and France, which includes dozens of measures in almost all aspects of the armed forces’ activities, was signed on Tuesday in Yerevan following strategic defense consultations between the two countries, the press service of the Armenian defense ministry reported.

The consultations were held under the leadership of Levon Ayvazyan, Head of the Department of Defense Policy and International Cooperation, and Alexandre Escorcia, Head of Service Europe, North America & Multilateral Affairs of the French Ministry of Defense.

The sides reviewed the results of the work done within the framework of cooperation in 2024 and outlined plans for the next year. They reaffirmed the strategic importance of the active co-operation of the last period and set an even higher bar for the expansion of the partnership.

Special importance was attached to cooperation in defence planning, military education and exercises, advisory assistance and training of different types of troops.

The delegation headed by Escorcia was received by Lieutenant General Edward Asryan, Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces. The priorities of the transformation process of the Armenian Armed Forces and cooperation with France in this context were discussed.

Asryan expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation and expressed hope that it will continue to develop. The sides also exchanged views on regional and international security issues.
