YEREVAN — The Minister of Defense of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan, accused Turkey of supporting the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). “We have neighbors who support the “Islamic State”, we condemn the activities of Turkey against our strategic partner. We think that Turkey’s underground activities do not allow to implement the measures directed against terrorism”, Ohanyan stated during a joint press conference with visiting Minister of National Defence of Greece, Panagiotis “Panos” Kammenos.
Ohanyan also stated that by downing the Russian jet, Turkey undermined the international fight against terrorism, adding that Turkey violates the airspace of Greece regularly, and there have also been attempts to violate the Armenian air space but Armenia and Greece have tolerated those steps, therefore, Turkey should have tolerated as well, particularly, considering that the Russian jet had not entered into the Turkish air space.
Kammenos also condemned Turkish activities in terms of supporting the “Islamic State”, at the same time stressing that Turkey was unable to prove that the Russian jet had violated the state Turkish border.
