YEREVAN — Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that a secret plan promoted by opposition forces enjoys support from certain circles in Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), warning that attempts to implement such a plan would end in political disaster.
Speaking during preliminary discussions on Armenia’s 2027 state budget in the National Assembly, Pashinyan addressed opposition statements concerning an alleged covert political initiative.
“There is no way to implement a secret plan inside Armenia,” the prime minister declared.
According to Pashinyan, the initiative has received backing from certain political circles outside Armenia.
“It is obvious that this plan has support in certain circles of the EAEU and Russia. There are reasons for this, because people have been sent to Armenia with very specific promises,” he said.
Pashinyan did not identify the individuals or groups he was referring to in the remarks provided.
The prime minister argued that previous political initiatives involving outside guarantors had ended disastrously.
“Opposition activities in Armenia are connected to guarantees provided by certain guarantors. This time, activities carried out under the protection of those guarantors will end in political disaster,” Pashinyan warned.
Nevertheless, he emphasized that opposition forces still have time to reconsider their actions and avoid what he described as an impending political defeat.
