YEREVAN — “Armenia has assured us that the TRIPP project will not create any threat to Iran,” Iran’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami, said during a press conference.

“The agenda of Armenian-Iranian relations should include the management of risks arising from this project and the elimination of possible challenges. As for the United States and the position of the Americans, it has not even been 20 days since the memorandum was signed, and during this period we have already witnessed several violations by them,” the ambassador said.

“Iran’s very legitimate and logical concern regarding the presence of Americans near its borders must receive a clear response and answer. The Armenian government has assured us that the implementation of this program will not create any challenge or threat for Iran.

“I believe that we must establish a mechanism through which the Republic of Armenia can realize and implement the full potential of unblocking regional communications. At the same time, the possible risks of the U.S. presence and the threats against Iran must be managed and clearly addressed,” he said.
