WINNETKA — Organization of Istanbul Armenians is pleased to announce a special conference featuring Belgian-Armenian philanthropist and entrepreneur André Gumuchdjian, to be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 5:00 PM at OIA center, 19726 Sherman Way, Winnetka, CA 91306.

André Gumuchdjian, whose four grandparents are Armenian natives of Istanbul, will deliver a compelling lecture titled “The Challenges of Large-Scale Reforestation.” His presentation will explore the mysteries of forest ecosystems and highlight the achievements of My Forest Armenia, the non-profit organization he founded in 2019, which has already planted over 300,000 trees in Armenia.

Born in Antwerp, Belgium, Gumuchdjian has devoted his life to philanthropy. In 2013, he was awarded the title Knight of the Legion of Honor for his role in creating and developing a French Lycée. That same year, he inaugurated a 13,000-square-foot Armenian community center in Brussels.

A seasoned sailor, he has completed numerous voyages across the world’s oceans, including two expeditions to Antarctica. Today, his passion lies in environmental stewardship—especially forests, which he recognizes as vital to life on Earth. His insight, energy, and global perspective will be central to this extraordinary evening.

Although we often hear about global warming, the climate crisis, and rising CO₂ levels, there remains much that the general public does not fully understand. This conference promises not only to inform, but to inspire attendees to become active participants in shaping a sustainable future.

Gumuchdjian will also present the Charles Aznavour Centennial Forest Project, a 100-hectare initiative representing 300,000 newly planted trees in Armenia in honor of the beloved artist’s 100th anniversary.

Those unable to attend the event but wishing to support the creation of the Charles Aznavour Forest may contribute directly through My Forest Armenia’s donation page at myforestarmenia.org.

Admission is free, but seating is limited.
We strongly encourage early registration.
