YEREVAN — The Armenian government should translate public confidence in peace into a final outcome through the signing and ratification of a peace agreement, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a Cabinet meeting on October 1.
According to Pashinyan, economic activity and indicators in the real estate market reflect optimism among Armenian citizens.
The prime minister said the economy is closely linked to people’s expectations and public sentiment. He argued that current economic indicators demonstrate confidence in peace despite what he described as alarmist assessments circulating in the media.
Pashinyan said that peace is already a reality but has not yet been fully institutionalized. According to him, the government must meet public expectations and bring the process to completion.
“We have reached an intermediate stage. But it is an intermediate stage, not the final destination. We must move toward the final destination,” Pashinyan said.
In discussing the need to sign and ratify a peace agreement, Pashinyan also referred to the TRIPP project, border delimitation, the opening of regional communications, the normalization process with Turkey, the North-South highway, and the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative.
He urged members of the government to shape their political messages and strategies around these priorities, while focusing on practical issues affecting people’s daily lives and on concrete solutions.
According to Pashinyan, the government should not allow the daily flow of information and political noise to distract it from its principal objectives.
