YEREVAN — “At this moment, TRIPP is being implemented in the Armenia-U.S. format. An agreement has been signed, and it is now in the implementation phase,” Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan said in response to a question from Azatutyun.
Safaryan was asked whether Moscow’s involvement in TRIPP, in any format, would be acceptable to official Yerevan or could be discussed in the future, given that Moscow has questioned the effectiveness of TRIPP without Russian participation.
“I would not like to say anything about the future at this moment,” the deputy foreign minister said.
Safaryan noted that Armenia is currently a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, and transit rules are governed by EAEU regulations. Asked by Azatutyun whether TRIPP would therefore also operate under EAEU regulations, the deputy foreign minister responded affirmatively.
Asked whether cooperation with both the American and Russian sides would take place within the framework of joint work, Safaryan said:
“Our customs authorities are the ones implementing the EAEU customs regulations, so we do not see a problem there,” the deputy foreign minister said.
