YEREVAN — The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has announced which candidates from the political forces that secured representation in parliament will be registered and awarded parliamentary mandates. The CEC’s official protocol has been published on the commission’s website.

The ruling Civil Contract party will hold 64 seats. New members of the faction include Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff Arayik Harutyunyan and his deputy, Taron Chakhoyan. Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Nazeli Baghdasaryan will also return to the National Assembly.

The second-largest faction, Strong Armenia, received 29 mandates. However, two of its elected candidates may ultimately decline to take their seats in parliament.

Most of the 12 deputies representing the opposition Armenia Alliance also served in the previous parliament. The political force’s leader, Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan, will once again not serve in the National Assembly, having relinquished his mandate several days ago.

“I can say with a clear conscience that the June 7, 2026, elections to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia were free, fair and transparent,” CEC Chairman Vahagn Hovakimyan said.

“Compared with all previous elections, there were significantly fewer shortcomings during this electoral process. However, we faced a situation in which the question of whether one political force would cross the electoral threshold was extremely sensitive, and much of the tension and emotion stemmed from that uncertainty,” he added.

Hovakimyan reiterated that, compared with all previous parliamentary elections, the 2026 National Assembly election was the best organized in terms of minimizing shortcomings and technical problems.
