YEREVAN — Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan believes that the dialogue between Armenia and Turkey has matured sufficiently to yield positive results.

The Armenian foreign minister made the remarks during a panel discussion held as part of the “Yerevan Dialogue” international forum.

“We have an excellent dialogue with Turkey. There have been numerous opportunities for cooperation. Just yesterday, our representatives signed a memorandum to jointly restore the historic Ani Bridge located on the Armenia-Turkey border.

“A week ago, the third meeting of the working group attempting to restore railway connections between Armenia and Turkey via the Gyumri-Kars route took place. In other words, we have many examples of cooperation, yet the border remains generally closed. We have expressed bilateral readiness to establish diplomatic relations and our mutual willingness to fully open the border.

“There was an agreement in the first phase to open the border for citizens of third countries and diplomats, but the borders remain closed to this day. Some agreements are being implemented, while others are still under development. However, I can confidently say that this will happen, because the Armenia-Turkey dialogue has reached a sufficient level for positive results to emerge,” Mirzoyan stated.
