YEREVAN — Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has sent a message of condolence to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, regarding the casualties recorded among Iran’s leadership and citizens.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the message states:
“Your Excellency,
We are following the developments around Iran with deep concern. Please accept my condolences on the casualties recorded among the leadership and citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran. We will always remember the personal role of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in the development of Armenia–Iran relations.
At this difficult moment, we hope for the swift restoration of peace and stability in the Middle East.
Taking this opportunity, I wish you patience, and to the friendly and neighboring people of Iran, peace and resilience.”
On February 28, Israel and the United States reportedly launched large-scale military strikes against Iran. According to the statement, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed on the first day of the attack. The military actions have expanded across several countries in the Middle East.
In response, Iran has reportedly carried out strikes on U.S. military bases located in countries across the region, as well as against Israel. Israel has also conducted strikes in Lebanon.
