BAKU — U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance discussed the issue of prisoner releases during his visit to Baku.
The information was confirmed by the Vice President’s spokesperson following Vance’s meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
“President Aliyev and Vice President Vance discussed the next steps in President Donald Trump’s initiative to establish peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. They focused on trade and prosperity, technology, and diplomatic relations. They also addressed next steps, including agreements and authorizations related to the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), as well as confidence-building measures such as the release of prisoners, U.S. investment, and regional economic integration,” the spokesperson stated.
However, the U.S. side did not specify what response was received from the Azerbaijani side or whether any agreements were reached on the issue.
Prior to departing Yerevan, Vice President Vance had pledged to raise the issue of Armenian detainees during his visit to Baku.
