Founded in 1985 in Los Angeles, California, AAMS has grown into a vibrant community of physicians, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, and allied healthcare practitioners dedicated to service, education, outreach, and humanitarian aid for Armenians worldwide.

Mission, Services, and Impact

As part of its ongoing mission, the Armenian American Medical Society remains committed to advancing healthcare, education, and community impact through a range of meaningful initiatives:

Innovative Leadership and Historic Milestone

AAMS’s leadership reflects both its deep-rooted tradition and its forward-looking vision. In 2026, the society is led by Ms. Elizabeth Zoryan, RN, BSN, PHN, whose election marks a historic milestone as the third female president in AAMS history and the first Registered Nurse to serve as President on the AAMS Executive Committee. Her leadership highlights AAMS’s commitment to broad representation across healthcare disciplines and its embrace of innovative leadership.

Reflecting on her presidency, Ms. Zoryan shared:

“It is a profound honor to serve as President of the Armenian American Medical Society at such a meaningful moment in its history. AAMS represents the power of unity across all healthcare disciplines, bringing together service, education, mentorship, and humanitarian commitment to uplift our communities locally and globally. Together, we will continue building on this legacy of excellence while inspiring the next generation to lead with compassion, collaboration, and purpose.”

Ms. Zoryan brings a rich background in nursing, community service, and nonprofit leadership. Her election exemplifies AAMS’s dedication to uniting all healthcare professionals in service, education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and community impact.

Reflecting on this transition, outgoing President Dr. Garni Barkhoudarian shared:
