YEREVAN – The EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA) conducted a patrol in the village of Nerkin Hand, located in Syunik Province.
EUMA Head of Mission Markus Ritter and his team met with Nerkin Hand Mayor Khachatur Baghdasaryan.
“Yesterday, EUMA successfully patrolled Nerkin Hand in southern Armenia to assess the humanitarian and security situation near the Armenia-Azerbaijan border,” EUMA stated on X. “The Head of Mission and the EUMA team met with Mayor Khachatur Baghdasaryan, who warmly welcomed us to the village.”
Following the 44-day war, officers from the Russian base stationed at the entrance of the village departed two months ago, in accordance with the Moscow agreement between the leaders of Armenia and Russia. Until then, Nerkin Hand was the only place in Armenia where European observers did not have access. The Head of Mission and the Secretary of the Security Council discussed this issue during their visit.
