YEREVAN (Armenpress) — The Russian Border Patrol stationed in Armenia arrested two citizens of
Afghanistan who had illegally crossed the Armenia-Turkey border.

Local residents informed the Border Patrol about an unknown person who was seen on the shores of the bordering Araks River. Minutes later the Border Detachment Squad of Artashat began surveillance.

The trespasser crossed the waters and hid in the bushes. At that very moment, the Border Patrol arrested him. Minutes later another trespasser has been spotted and put under arrest.

The interrogation revealed the trespassers to be citizens of Afghanistan and intended to cross to European countries via Armenia. They carried a bag with personal items and two “Nokia” cell phones. The arrested trespassers have been handed over to the National Security Service of Armenia.
