RIGA — Armenian athletes won one gold, two silver and one bronze medals at the European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships in Riga, Latvia.

Varsham Baronyan (w/c 71 kg) brought a gold medal to Armenia by beating a Serbian rival in the final bout on Sunday.

Earlier, Artur Alexanyan (w/c 98 kg) and Roman Amoyan (w/c 59 kg) won silver medals and Karapet Chalyan (w/c 75 kg) won a bronze. Alexanyan beat his Turkish competitor Cenk Ildem with a score of 6:2 in the semi-finals to reach the gold medal bout. Chalyan won the bronze medal by winning against Azerbaijan’s Elvin Mursaliev 4:1.

Overall, Team Armenia finished second at the Championships after Russia, the National Olympic Committee of Armenia reports.
